Membership

Invitation to join

The members of the Stormwater Equipment Manufacturers Association invite you to become a member of this growing and dynamic association. The Stormwater Equipment Manufacturers Association is dedicated to becoming the leader in advocating sustainable and effective solutions for stormwater quality through educational outreach to regulators, design professionals, developers, and other stakeholders in clean water initiatives.

The Stormwater Equipment Manufacturers Association is taking on two important issues in the stormwater industry – the development of maintenance guidelines for all stormwater devices and the development of standard manufactured stormwater equipment specifications. The goals of these endeavors are to help end users properly understand and maintain BMPs in the field and to have a standard specification that can be utilized by states, counties, and municipalities.

The Stormwater Equipment Manufacturers Association offers, among other things, end users the chance to learn about the advantages of using manufactured stormwater systems and cost comparison to land-based systems. Membership dues will help finance this and many undertakings in addition to promotional activities and administrative costs.

Core Values

The Stormwater Equipment Manufacturers Association was founded on the following core values:
  1. Improving the quality of storm water run-off; essential to the prosperity, health and welfare of everyone.
  2. Manufactured products have an important place in the systematic treatment of the water entering our oceans, lakes, rivers, and streams.
  3. Encouragement by designers and manufacturers of stormwater technologies, proprietary or otherwise, of independent third-party testing in the public arena.
  4. Evaluation of all stormwater technologies, proprietary or otherwise, using the same standards and protocols for all.
  5. Emerging technologies have a path for acceptance through testing and pilot projects.
  6. Following consistent standards to ensure the appropriate sizing of all stormwater practices.
  7. Elimination of excessive testing by the promotion of reciprocal test data acceptance.
  8. Requiring supporting documentation, in all situations, of any stormwater technology, proprietary or otherwise, before it is rated or assumed to have a uniform removal percentage.
